A word about letters

I just wanted to give special mention to the amazing typographer/illustrator/designer Jessica Hische. I've been a long time admirer of her work and last September she began a great project, Daily Drop Cap, in which she, as the name implies, creates a drop cap letter daily. I've been using them on my blog and wanted to give special credit and highlight her work.

Portraits by Mel Stringer!

I first came across Mel Stringer's portraits through Drawn. I really like her line work and when I discovered that she took commissions (at a very resonable price, too!) I contacted her to get some portraits done of our family.

Me being me, I chose more humorous/whimsical pictures to give her as reference. I love what she came up with!

History making

This illustration by Patrick Moberg was done back on election day, but just thought I'd share, now that it's official!

Yummy prints!

I found these two delicious prints on etsy a few weeks ago and they arrived this week in the mail. The Cuban born artist, Elsa Mora, has a shop that is filled with (well, she's currently closed for the holidays) these whimsical papercuts and prints that remind me vaguely of Alice in Wonderland. She also makes other things, including jewelry and toys. I am totally loving her art and am super inspired by all that she's created.

Her shop reopens on January 17th, but in the meantime, you can read her interesting bio listed on her profile. Or check out her blogs, one devoted entirely to papercutting, and the other to her art and life in general.

I'm already envisioning these framed on our wall in the future...
